BLINK and you just might miss this hidden gem nestled behind beautiful gardens and an entrance that encapsulates all the charm of yesteryear.

The Cove Indian Restaurant is a converted house that reflects the clean lines of colonial India while exuding the delicious aroma of dishes passed from generation to generation.

A tasting plate for two is the perfect way to get the tastebuds buzzing for what is to come, with an abundance of options including chicken, tiger prawns, beef and fish.

For a restaurant that focuses on delivering such fine cuisine, The Cove’s menu is surprisingly extensive, offering an array of chicken, beef, lamb, seafood and vegetarian dishes.

The Saag Meat (medium) is a lamb dish cooked to perfection with spinach and spices in a thick sauce, while the traditional Chicken Korma (mild) is a flavour sensation in a thick and creamy sauce with ground cashew nuts and mild spices.

A word of advice: browse the dessert menu and picture book of mouth-watering sorbets before the mains to ensure you keep enough room for these at the end of the meal.

Cocktail enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with a long list of fruity and creamy concoctions, including one of the best mojitos in the area, while the Pakistani mango pulp is what sets their mango daiquiri apart from the rest.

The restaurant caters well for large groups with a buffet dinner including entree, main and dessert, while the Sunday lunch buffet is great for family get-togethers.

Warmer months ahead promise greater use of the large verandah, providing the perfect place to sit and indulge in the great outdoors far back from the street.

Surprised that The Cove has been a finalist for the Gold Plate Award for the past three years? Not at all.
