AS the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa edges closer, soccer mania is reaching fever pitch and young players across Perth are being given a special opportunity to make it in the big time.

Reality television series Football Superstar, which is entering its third season, is holding try-outs for young hopefuls at Mt Hawthorn’s Litis Stadium this Sunday, as production gears up for the program.

Australian A-League outfit Brisbane Roar will partner as the official football club this year, which means former Australian Youth team coach Ange Postecoglou will have the ultimate say of who is kept in and who is ‘kicked out’ as he puts 15 hopefuls through their paces to find Australia’s next Football Superstar.

Series two winner Luke Pilkington’s career has continued to soar since he moved from his hometown of Canberra to start full-time training with Melbourne Victory late last year.

The winner of the third series will receive a contract with Brisbane Roar and a one-year university scholarship.

The Football Superstar competition is open to males aged between 16 and 21.

Applicants should turn up to register from 7.30am with try-outs starting at 9am.
